This magnificent, turn-of-the-century portrait of Nicholas II, in Preobrazhenski Regiment uniform, was the masterwork of Russian Impressionist Valentin A. Serov. Originally hung in Alexandra's sitting room in the Winter Palace, the painting vanished shortly after the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution. Fortunately, Serov had painted a second, recently discovered copy for himself, which today hangs in Moscow's famous Tretyakov Museum. This regal replica, on stretched canvas, is graced with hand-applied brush strokes, making it virtually indistinguishable from the original. Exquisite, handcrafted multi-tiered frame features gold-accented hardwoods and solid-brass museum plate. Ready to hang. 22¾"x26¾" (framed dimensions).
