Hired to paint the centerpiece for the Spanish Pavilion for the 1937 World’s Fair in Paris, Picasso found his inspiration in the treasonous Generalissimo Francisco Franco and the bombing of the small village of Guernica in Northern Spain by Hitler’s forces. Although Picasso normally disdained politics and political art, the treason of Franco and the black and white photos he viewed in the papers of the massacre of Guernica provided enough inspiration to paint one of the most famous visual representations of the horrors of war. This 3000 piece puzzle of Picasso’s masterpiece is stunning enough to glue, frame and display.
